Personal Counseling Services, Inc. Launches a New Support Group: Church Hurt – Where Is God in All of This?

Church Hurt-Where is God in all of this

Clarksville, Indiana — Beginning March 23, 2026 – In response to the growing number of
individuals struggling with spiritual wounds, faith crises, and negative church experiences,
Personal Counseling Services is launching a new support group titled “Church Hurt: Where Is
God in All of This?”

This group is designed to provide a safe, confidential, and compassionate space for individuals
who have experienced pain, disappointment, betrayal, or spiritual confusion connected to the church
involvement or faith communities.
Many people silently carry deep emotional and spiritual wounds stemming from church
leadership conflicts, moral failures, judgment, exclusion, spiritual abuse, or unmet expectations.
These experiences can lead to anxiety, depression, anger, isolation, and even a loss of faith.
“Church hurt is real, and it can deeply impact a person’s emotional and spiritual well-being,”
said Rev. Dr. Jeff Romer, Clinical Director. “This group is not about blaming the Church. It is
about healing, processing pain, and rediscovering hope.”

What Participants Can Expect:

  • A confidential and non-judgmental environment
  • Facilitated discussions led by trained professionals
  • Healthy processing of spiritual trauma
  • Emotional support and coping tools
  • Opportunities to explore faith questions safely
  • Resources for rebuilding trust and spiritual identity

The group welcomes individuals at any stage of belief, whether they feel angry, confused,
disconnected, or simply questioning.
Sessions will begin on Monday, March 23rd, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM and will be held monthly at
1205 Applegate Lane. Clarksville, Indiana. Registration is not required.
